Guyana. An open letter "changes afoot"
As many of you will know, me and Sue and Steve have delivered our long-standing bushcraft and forest-school courses for more than a decade in the North of England before we moved to woodier climes. This last five years in the Forest of Dean under the name Biblins-Bushcraft have been amazing.
We have delivered in tandem with the management of Biblins Youth Campsite and Adventure Centre. It has been a happy union, but given the great success of both these ventures it is time to either expand massively, not our style, or to focus fully on one or't uther.
Its not been an easy decision and emotions are high but given our love of learning as well as teaching it was, in the end, a "no brainer". This will be our final year of managing Biblins Youth Camp. Next season (2015) will see full and undivided commitment to bushcraft. Biblins-Bishcraft will continue to operate from the area and deliver from the campsite to customers old and new the same great personal service as ever.
The thing that made for conflict was the amount of time we intend to spend in the interior of Guyana. It is planned that we will spend six months of the year in that strange and wonderful country. April to the end of September will see us here in the Forest of Dean, just as we are. Just a glimpse of the autumn before we head off to jungle heat.
Winter 2015/16 will be our first business year there, should all go to plan, with our first course delivered there 2016. Watch this space. As well as furthering our own business interests there, we want to offer some help and support for the communities of the interior. Arguable this is best done by keeping away, but many communities are embracing tourism as a way to protect their identity not to lose it as in the case of Rewa eco village.
whatever happens there, our contact details will remain the same until March 2015 by which time our Newent office should be up and running with a new land line.
Don't worry, its in our interests to remain very much on the radar.
Thanks for five years of support to both interests.
graeme Sue and Steve
