The season is almost through for visitors to the campsite and we delivered our last commercial course on Sunday, so now its rest and recuperation and of course continued learning.
The rut has just started. The stags began their grunting calls last Friday, though we had heard the odd call before then.
The sun is still shining but they say that snow is on the way!!
We have just started working on some instructive videos and will continue over the winter ready for launching in the spring, so watch this space.
We have some exiting expeditions planned over the winter too. A trip to the Alps to enjoy some winter climbing and cross country skiing and we will of course be practicing our winter survival techniques. We have enjoyed a couple of very good trips to Norway over the last few year and learned some new skills but its important to practice old ones too.
Our major personal development plan though is to spend a whole month in the Trudos mountains in Cyprus. The intention being, we can have a little winter sun after a couple of days in the higher hills and snow line where the team will hone all their skills in an extreme of weather and terrain. We are discovering that maps and local knowledge are a challenge, but its booked now so it will happen. Also, though plans have not been finalised, we are looking to get out to do some desert training, its only a day trip to Egypt, and it will be totally new to Steve and Sue. Harry and I have done some desert trekking and exploring on quad bikes in Tunisia and on our visit to Sharm el, but I have had no formal training. Training with the right people is very important.
Its time to get outside into the glorious sun.
